Letting Beauty Be Worship

I used to separate my worship from my work — the sacred hour from the ordinary day. But God, who made the lilies more glorious than Solomon, has never made that distinction. Beauty is not a distraction from worship; it is a form of it.

When I arrange flowers from the garden, I am handling His handiwork. When I set a table with care, I am making a home for the people He loves. When I write a letter or a page, I am using the words He gave me to point back to Him.

The artist's impulse — to make something lovely — is a God-shaped impulse. We create because we were created by a Creator, and every act of making is a small echo of the original making.

So do not apologize for the beauty you make. The carefully folded napkin, the garden tended at dawn, the song hummed while you work — these are liturgies. They are love made visible.

Offer your hands to Him, and let what you make be worship. Even the smallest beautiful thing, made with love, is a prayer He receives.
