There is a difference between being seen and being known. Being seen happens in a crowd; being known happens in the quiet, where no performance is required and no mask survives.
The beautiful, unsettling truth of the gospel is that God knows us fully — the parts we show and the parts we hide — and His love does not flinch. He calls us by name, and the name He gives us is Beloved.
For so long I lived as if my worth were something I had to earn each morning: be useful, be pleasant, be enough. But being known by Him dismantles that arithmetic. I am not loved because I am lovely; I am loved, and so I am learning to be lovely.
What changes when we truly believe we are known? We stop performing. We stop hiding. We begin to rest in a love that was never conditional, and from that resting place, we become free to love others the same way.
You are not a stranger to Him. You are His — known, chosen, and beloved before you ever did a thing.
“But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.”
