When the Waiting Feels Like Silence

I have stood in the garden during seasons when nothing seemed to be happening. The soil looked ordinary. The buds took their time. And yet, beneath the surface, roots were reaching — quiet, persistent, unseen work.

Waiting feels like silence to us. We measure time by movement, by answers, by doors. When the door does not open, we assume nothing is happening. But God is not idle in the waiting. He is preparing the ground, the heart, the provision, the timing.

Scripture is full of waiting that produced abundance: Abraham waiting for Isaac, Joseph waiting in the prison, Israel waiting in the wilderness. None of that time was wasted. It was the forge where character was shaped and faith was deepened.

If you are in a season that looks like nothing at all, take heart. The silence is not absence. It is the sound of God working underneath — roots reaching, foundations settling, a story being prepared that only He could write.

The waiting is not the enemy of your promise. It is the room where your promise is grown.
