The Story Our Lives Are Telling

Every life tells a story. A reflection on abiding in Jesus and letting love become the clearest evidence of the grace changing us.

HELLO, BELOVED…

Every life tells a story.

We tell it through the words we speak, the way we treat people, the grace we offer, and the choices we make when no one is watching. Our lives are always communicating something—even during the seasons when we cannot find the words to explain what God is doing within us.

The question is not whether we are telling a story.

The question is: What story are we telling?

WE ARE NOT PERFECT—WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED JESUS

Being a Christian does not mean we have become perfect. It means that somewhere in our brokenness, we encountered Jesus.

We came to Him carrying wounds, regrets, fears, and unfinished places. We did not arrive polished and complete. We arrived needing mercy—and mercy met us there.

Anything good within us is evidence of His grace. Anything still broken is not beyond His reach. He is patiently healing, refining, correcting, and transforming us.

Beloved, you are not a finished work. Neither am I.

But we are held in the hands of a faithful Potter who never abandons what He has begun.

LOVE IS THE EVIDENCE

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” —1 John 4:7 KJV

The clearest evidence of our encounter with God is not how loudly we speak about Him. It is how faithfully we love the people He places before us.

Love is not merely a warm feeling. Sometimes love looks like listening without preparing a response. Sometimes it means offering forgiveness while maintaining healthy boundaries. Sometimes it is choosing gentleness when anger would be easier.

Love carries truth, but it does not use truth as a weapon. Love does not require perfection before extending compassion. It remembers that every person is carrying a story we may not fully understand.

Our lives preach long before our lips ever do.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW LOVELY LIFE MAY STILL BECOME

Perhaps this season does not look the way you imagined.

Perhaps parts of your story feel delayed, broken, or painfully unfinished. But the chapter you are living today is not the conclusion.

You have no idea how lovely your life may still become.

God can bring beauty from places you believed were beyond restoration. He can breathe hope into tired dreams, awaken purpose inside surrendered hearts, and grow something beautiful from the soil of disappointment.

Your scars may become someone else’s evidence that healing is possible. Your survival may become a song of hope. The places where you once felt most ashamed may become the very places through which His grace shines most clearly.

Do not close the book while God is still writing.

ABIDE IN THE VINE

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” —John 15:4 KJV

We cannot manufacture lasting fruit through striving. We cannot force ourselves into wholeness or produce holy love through willpower alone.

The branch bears fruit because it remains connected to the Vine.

To abide is to stay.

Stay when His voice feels quiet.

Stay when growth feels slow.

Stay when you cannot see what He is doing beneath the surface.

Stay close enough to receive His life.

Our strength is not found in pretending that we have everything together. It is found in remaining connected to the One who does.

When we abide in Jesus, His love begins flowing through us. Our lives soften. Our responses change. Our stories become living invitations for others to encounter the same grace that found us.

WHAT STORY WILL YOU TELL?

Beloved, your story does not need to be flawless to be beautiful.

Let it be honest.

Let it tell of the broken places where Jesus met you. Let it speak of the grace that carried you when you could not carry yourself. Let it show the slow, sacred work God is still accomplishing within you.

Let your eyes carry compassion.

Let your hands offer kindness.

Let your words make room for healing.

Let your life say, “I have encountered Jesus, and His love is changing me.”

We are all telling stories with our lives—whether we have the words or not.

May yours be a story of abiding.

May yours be a story of becoming.

And above all, may yours be a story of love.

A BELOVED DECLARATION

I do not have to be perfect to be loved or used by God. I will abide in Jesus, receive His transforming grace, and allow my life to tell the story of His love.

REFLECTION

What story is your life telling in this season—and where is God inviting you to love more deeply?

PRAYER

Father, thank You for meeting me in my brokenness and loving me while You continue Your work within me. Teach me to abide in Jesus and to love others with patience, truth, compassion, and grace. Let my life tell the story of Your goodness. Use even my unfinished places to reveal Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
