There is a verse I return to in lean seasons: He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Not after the wilderness. In the wilderness. The table is not the reward for surviving; it is the provision for surviving.
I have watched God set tables in unlikely places — a meal shared when the pantry held almost nothing, a word of encouragement arriving at the exact hour I needed it, a door opening when every exit seemed sealed.
Provision does not always look like abundance. Sometimes it looks like enough. Like manna — daily bread, exactly sufficient, and a lesson in trusting tomorrow's supply to the same Hand that gave today's.
The wilderness is not where provision stops. It is where provision becomes personal — where you stop trusting in systems and start trusting in the Shepherd who prepares the table and leads beside still waters.
If your season feels barren, look again. He may be setting a table where you least expect one.
“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”
