There are seasons the whisper is louder than the answer. I ask, and the heavens feel still. I wait, and the silence stretches. In those seasons I have learned that His silence has always been kinder than my noise.
Elijah heard God not in the wind or the earthquake, but in the still small voice. Sometimes the quiet is not absence — it is proximity. He is near enough that He does not need to shout.
I am learning to interpret the quiet as invitation. Come closer. Sit a while. Let the questions rest. The answer is often not a sentence; it is a presence.
On the days He feels quiet, do not assume He has gone. Lean in. The whisper is louder than the answer when you are close enough to hear it.
“And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”
